Tread carefully with water guzzling data centres

Every Al search, chatbot and Al-generated image requires tons of computing power. Behind artificial intelligence are massive data centres consuming gigawatts of electricity, using millions of litres of water for cooling and contributing to carbon emissions As Al grows, so does its environmental footprint. More energy demand, more pressure on water resources and more electronic waste. This will be the biggest environmental problem in the years to come. A power and water deficient India is blindly welcoming tech behemoths to set up their energy and resource guzzling data centres here while the same are being opposed tooth and nail in the West. We need smarter technology, but we also need sustainable technology. Hope the leaders of India realise this, the sooner the better.
