The Goan: You both are proud Goans. After showcasing yourwork at events like Lakme Fashion Week and Dubai Fashion Week you are nowpresenting your collection at India Resort Fashion Week (IRFW) in Goa fir thefirst time. Your feelings?
Mapxencars: Yes, we have gone and shown our work outsideGoa. But now we would like the Goans to see what we actually do. We really wantthem to see our garments properly. Yes, we are very excited because it’s alwaysnice to go back to our roots and do something for the place we belong to.
Also, at times, people don’t exactly know what a fashionweek is all about. So when they come to see our fashion show, they will get abrief idea about what the event, the music, the choreography, the models, thepose, etc. Also, we are doing a resort collection for the first time. So yes,it is challenging and we are really looking forward to that.
TG: Tell us something about your collection that you aregoing to present at IRFW
Mapxencars: We will be showcasing around 32 garments and wewill have two different colour choices, one for the day resort wear and secondline which is primarily black in colour which is evening wear. Many peoplethink that resort-wear is all about a bikini or swimwear. But if you see theinternational resort fashion week, it is something that we wear in our day today lives. The dress could be structured, it could be stiff or it could be anA-Line dress but something that has a resort-y feel. Also, since a lot of Goanslike wearing gowns, we are going to show a lot of resort-wear gowns which arenot really formal but yes, they are something you can wear for beach weddingsor parties.
We are known for our fitted garments and stiff fabric. Thistime we are taking it ahead and going for a very feminine, flowy look. Weusually make clothes for very corporate looking, powerful women. This time we are trying to break that mouldand we are trying to make them look confident as well as soft and feminine atthe same time.
TG: With more fashion events happening in Goa, does it putyou in a more comfortable spot to present your collection in Goa?
Mapxencars: Yes, of course! We deliberately decided to dothe second season of IRFW because we wanted to see the response from the firstseason and it was overwhelming. We thought this was the right time for us. Wewere very impressed with the way IRFW turned out last season and we areexpecting it to be bigger this time. Last season we had names like ManishMalhotra, Narendra Kumar, show their collection. It is a privilege to be a partof a fashion show which has such big names.
TG: You have been expressing a desire to open a store inGoa. Any updates?
Mapxencars: Yeah, we really want to start it as soon aspossible, but we don’t know when we are going to do it. The response we gatherfrom this show may help. If we can deliver something that the market in Goaneeds, then definitely Goans can expect a ‘MapxencaRS’ store in Goa soon.
