When the government says it is bringing services to our doorsteps, why must citizens still visit their local village panchayat or municipality to obtain and submit forms for Goa’s three-free-LPG-cylinder scheme? I appreciate the government’s initiative to provide the benefit through the Goa Ujjwala Yojana. However, beneficiaries are required to submit forms along with Aadhaar Card, Voter ID (EPIC), bank passbook linked with Aadhaar for DBT, and LPG/PNG connection details. Couldn’t our elected public representatives assist citizens by collecting and submitting these forms? Such genuine service would truly reflect the spirit of “Vande Mataram.” The government has also chosen to transfer Rs 3,000 directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), instead of distributing physical cylinders. This is welcome, but why should citizens face unnecessary inconvenience to receive the benefit? During elections, candidates repeatedly visit voters’ homes seeking support. Shouldn’t public service continue after elections too?
