Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has extended a helping hand to the rain ravaged people of Chennai by donating Rs 1 crore for relief work. "After seeing the shocking visuals of rain affected Chennai, Akshay wanted to help the people and in this regard he called director Priyadarshan, who in turn directed him to contact Suhasini Maniratnam," read a statement.
Following Suhasini's suggestion, he donated Rs 1 crore to Bhoomika Trust, which has been preparing and distributing food items since the day Chennai was hit by torrential rain. Not long ago, Shah Rukh Khan and the team of Dilwale also donated Rs 1 crore for the relief work.
