All the while, Faria, was a final year medical student at Grant Medical College and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals. For as long as possible, she kept the operation under wraps and continued attending her classes. After she was crowned Miss World, Faria chose to curb her one year contract in pageantry while turning down film and modeling contracts to return to medical school. She successfully earned her medical degree from the King’s College Hospital in London where she also met her husband, Dr. David Powell. The couple moved to Dublin, Ireland following their wedding where they continue to live today.
Dr. Reita Faria Powell has returned to judge several pageants, including Miss World 1998, where she bestowed the crown on fellow Indian beauty queen, Aishwarya Rai.
