Those present was mesmerised by the speed with which Vamona Navelcar did sketches. His paint and brush was just dancing on the paper. Artists present at the venue, paid tribute to Vamona in their own way - Alexyz drew a portrait and Sachin Madge did a sculpture on Vamona. There were speeches, a film screening in his honour, while the Goa Ghumot Group performed throughout the festival. A portrait of his favourite Portuguese poet, writer, and philosopher Fernando Pessoa sketched by Vamona, at the venue will be gifted to the Prime Minister of Portugual, Antonio Costa, on May 6, 2017.
Celebrating a Goan legend
The open art festival, ‘Celebrating Vamona Navelcar’ turned out to be a grand success witnessing over 40 professional artists, art collectors, art lovers and enthusiastic public participation at Dr Francisco Louis Gomes garden at Campal. It turned out to be one-of-a-kind live artwork festival with artists painting, sculpting, singing and playing music or performing.
