Reena Bino, a crochet artist from Margao has exquisite and unique Diwali décor this year. She has knitted beautiful sky lanterns (akash kandil) and rangoli patterns for home decoration. “I always wanted to make something for Diwali with my hand-knitted doilies so this year I have made these colourful kandils with doilies. The kandil structure is made with wooden sticks and then decorated with colourful hand-knitted doilies with a set of five double pointed needles with cotton thread. Satin ribbon, yarn, beads and lace is also used for decoration,” briefs Reena, proprietor at Nivita Knits. Her colourful kandils are 14 inches in length and prices between Rs 3500-5000 depending on the different types and designs of the doilies.
