From 6 am today, some of the best pastry chefs from across Goa took over the kitchens at Marriott Resort, Panaji to begin the mammoth task of mixing baking, decorating and displacing 5,555 unique varieties of cupcakes. Working with ingredients as varied as chocolate, green chili, marmalade, jalapenos, pesto, cashew feni and even kokum, more than 350 chefs from the state will be putting their heads together to create all made before the sun goes down today.
According to Alphonso Pereira of the Verna, the students and faculty members of the institute have been working overtime under the guidance of Dubai based pastry designer Chef Dhara Kotak, Chef Vivek Kadam and Chef Pratik Roy since January 19, preparing the requisite fondant toppers that will sit pretty on the 5555 cupcakes.
