Serendipity Arts Foundation, a not for profit organization with a vision of energizing arts production, awareness and practice across South Asia, announced the line-up of curators for its biggest outreach, Serendipity Arts Festival 2019. As a multi-disciplinary arts festival, Serendipity is curated across seven disciplines “ Craft, Music, Theatre, Dance, Culinary Arts, Visual Arts and Photography. The dates for the festival remain December 15-22 and will take place in Panaji. The festival has a total of Fourteen (14) curators, covering Seven (7) disciplines, combining multiple view points and diverse experience in Crafts, Culinary, Performing and Performance arts.
The curatorial lineup for Serendipity Arts Festival, Goa will have Aneesh Pradhan and Sneha Khanwalkar for Music, Leela Samson and Mayuri Upadhyaya in Dance, Theatre will have Atul Kumar and Arundhati Nag, Culinary Arts will feature Rahul Akerkar and Prahlad Sukhtankar, Photography will have curators Rahaab Allana and Ravi Agarwal; Dr Jyotindra Jain and Sudarshan Shetty will helm Visual arts as curators for 2019, and Pramod KG will be curating for the Craft discipline.
Additionally, there are also host of special projects across disciplines that will be curated by HH Art Spaces, St+art India Foundation, Vishal K. Dar, Vidya Shivadas, Anurupa Roy and Nancy Adajania,among others.
On this occasion, Sunil Kant Munjal, founder, Serendipity Arts Foundation, said, “We are aiming at bringing back the magic of Art into the mundane realities of life, by making the festival-experiential,inclusive, accessible, experimental and educational. It is a peoples’ festival which has been working towards breaking the exclusivity and broaden the footprint of art & culture in the region.”
Committed to innovation, Serendipity Arts Foundation intends to promote and create platforms for creativity and providing the wider public with a unique source of contemporary art and culture.
Programs for the Festival are designed and initiated through collaborations with partners across a multitude of fields, each intervention created using the arts to impact education, create social initiatives, facilitate community development impart skills, spark conversations and explore both inter-disciplinarity and multi-disciplinarity in the arts, with a special focus on South Asia.
Smriti Rajgarhia, director, Serendipity Arts Foundation, said, “We have announced our curators for the Serendipity Arts Festival 2019 and we are aiming to host an immersive, experimental and inclusive festival keeping in mind the diaspora of South Asia, with a continued emphasis on innovation and the qualitative aspect of the festival”.
The Festival aims to give the much deserved exposure to diverse contemporary arts and craft and highlight the shared cultural heritage of the region. To do so it aims at building a strong alumnus of artists across the globe, to create a supporting network for the artist, from the region. A collaborative platform for the arts, the Festival seeks to create a sustainable environment for the arts that engender change across South Asian cultural spectrum.
Owing to the Festival’s collaborative and liberal approach it has found support with several embassies. Some of the embassies which will join the outreach effort as project partners include; Institut Français (India), Pro Helvetia, Neemrana Foundation, and the British Council.
The occasion also marked the launch of this year’s digital campaign #LookToSee, which urges the public to introspect and observe the finer nuance of life and art. In its fourth year, the Serendipity
Arts Festival explores ways to enhance public interface with the Arts and boost the soft power of the nation by making art and culture a part of everyday conversations. It aims to preserve the cultural mosaic of the region and provide a platform to the emerging artists and art forms of the region, making space for greater creative inclusion.
