A Saligao girl, Nakita Tania Fernandes is representing India for Rubaru Miss World Beauty Queen 2019 that has the grand finale on August 28 at KBS Arena in Seoul. Nakita won Rubaru Miss World Beauty Queen India title in New Delhi earlier this year, in March. And it is this win that offered her an opportunity to represent India at international modelling competition in South Korea. Including India there are 40 different countries that would be participating in the competition.
“I am a bit nervous and at the same excited too,” she exclaims, when asked about the responsibility that she is shouldering to represent India. A student at Saraswat Vidyalaya Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management Studies, Nakita is just 19 and already a model. Standing 5 ft and 6.5 inches tall, she was a runner up at Miss Goa 2018 contest.
Feeling extremely honoured and humbled that she got the opportunity to represent India at an international platform, Nakita admits that she always wished for this. “I always wanted to do something for my nation and finally, I got the opportunity this year. The most beautiful part of representing your nation at an international beauty pageant is that, there, no one calls you by your name, rather you get addressed by your nation’s name and it is a matter of huge pride and honour.” At the conclusion of the event, the best performing candidate will get awarded with the winner’s crown by the last year’s winner, Russian supermodel, Alisa Manyonok. Along with winning the prizes and awards, the winner will get the opportunity to attend various social and fashion events during her reign.
