Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) and Dalgado Konknni Academy (DKA) will jointly commemorate ‘Konkani Cinema Day’ on April 24 at 3pm at the ESG auditorium, Macquinez Palace, Panaji.
The first full length Konkani film ‘Mogacho Anvddo’ was released on April 24, 1950. It was produced by AL Jerry Braganza, a native of Mapusa under the banner of ETICA pictures (Exchange Talkies of India, China & Africa). The film was based on the novel ‘Mogachi Odd’ written by Dioginho D’Mello. A L Jerry Braganza, besides producing the film also acted in the lead role. His pioneering work in the world of Konkani cinema was appreciated by Konkani film lovers and called him the Father of Konkani Cinema.
On the occasion of Konkani Cinema Day, the national award winning Konkani film ‘K Sera Sera’, produced by Rajesh and Gayatri Pednekar under the banner of Goan Studio, will be screened at the ESG auditorium at 3pm. The lead female artiste of the film is Palomi Ghosh and the male lead is performed by Rajesh R Pednekar. Prince Jakob, John D’Silva, etc also features in the film.
On this occasion the writer and director of the film Rajeev Shinde, the lead actor Rajesh R Pednekar and the producer of the film Gayatri R Pednekar will be felicitated. Damodar Mauzo, Sahit’ya Academy Award winner will be the chief guest on the occasion, Rajendra Talak, vice chairman of ESG, and Tomazinho Cardozo, president of DKA will grace the occasion.
The function is open to public. There are no tickets and the sitting arrangement will be on first come first serve basis, informed the organisers.
