Sairat filmmaker Nagraj Manjule's ex wife Sunita has revealed that she was physically and emotionally abused by him during their marriage. “I was taken to their family as the daughter-in-law, but in practice, I was their housemaid,” she says, adding that while she looked after entire family, Manjule hardly made time for her and later refused to acknowledge her as his wife. Sunita also revealed that Manjule was not in favour of them having children and made her go through 3 abortions. “Whenever I raised my voice for keeping the child, he thrashed me, with his bare hands, leather belt and sometimes, a log of wood,” she revealed. Sunita now lives with her parents and works as a maid in different houses to earn her livelihood.
