This year, over four decades after his father first wore the crown, Shalom Sardinha is King Momo. Shalom is a mechanical engineer from PCCE and a gold medalist from Goa Institute of Management. But that’s not the reason why he is going to lead the Carnival parade dressed in royal regalia. He’s going to kickstart the Carnival proceedings because just like King Momo, he’s always had a fun side that makes for a pretty picture. You always see Shalom smiling, whenever you meet him. His booming voice carries across the room and he can make you laugh in a jiffy. “I was always a mischievous child,” says the married father of two girls.
In 1974, his father Fransisco was King Momo. Now it’s Shalom’s turn to lead the way. His message for 2016 is, “Let’s be responsible citizens, responsible to ourselves, others and the environment!”
When you see him up on that float, be sure to wave.
