We are busy keeping up with schedules, that we do not realize how lonely it gets for those who are confined to old-age homes. Life is not just about receiving; it is about sharing too. It is not only about what is in it for us but what we can do for others. “To have this opportunity of bringing a smile and add joy to someone’s life, gave us a sense of fulfillment. We were too happy to be a part of this joyous celebration,” shared Vikram Verlekar, MD, Ulhas Jewellers who along with the contestants of Goencho Avaz 2019 spent a day with the senior citizens at Dr Rafael Old Aged Home. As the elderly joined in singing and dancing, the entire mood of the gathering transformed within moments and the hall was filled with smiles, laughs and cheers. Dancing non-stop to the tunes of Goan songs by Lorna, Konkani Mandos and the Goan Masala, some elderly even sang in the little spot competition and Antonia, Petty, Luiza, Aurora and Mary offered their best. Voller D’Costa played the guitar, while Lizanne Rebello, Vrutha Karmali and Kimberly Fernandes lead the singing.
