I like to travel - only in cities and without adjustments or discomfort. I have been to Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi. All the cities appeared the same to me, with wide roads, busy people and the same type of malls and retail brand chains everywhere. Do you think our cities are losing their uniqueness? Are they all becoming the same?
Jimmy, Panaji
Dear Jimmy,
I think everything is getting streamlined into one particular model. Yes, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune, for instance, may look the same but they do all have their own unique traits that make them different. Of course to find out what those traits are you have to take the blinders off and get up off your lazy behind. I once went travelling with just a backpack. I travelled by truck, bus and hitchhiked my way from Mumbai (back then we called it Bombay) to Goa, and then on to Daman. I even went part of the journey by a truck transporting bananas. It was fun. But they didn’t let me eat any bananas. Here’s a tip, a pile of bananas can feel like stone after a while, so make sure you massage your gluteus maximus often. You need to travel off the beaten path, and by off the beaten path I don’t mean go to Canacona, I mean go to places that require a little bit of work. Have you visited Panchgani, or Coorg? Or be bold and take the Howrah Express to Kolkata and then make it up to Darjeeling. Live a little mehn!

My parents don’t like my boyfriend. Now he passed out of college while I still have to answer my TY. How do we meet, when he can’t come home and my parents don’t allow me to go out with him? This means we will only meet on Saturday night when all my friends go out together and my parents can’t refuse then.
Sanya, Porvorim
Dear Sanya,
Your parents don’t like your boyfriend? Uff, the agony! How cruel this world is. This has never happened in the history of….ok, I can’t even finish typing that sentence. You have two choices, you can either live with the fact that you can meet your boyfriend just once a week, and video or text chat with him for the rest of the days, or you can be sneaky and lie to your parents. I’m assuming you don’t want to do the latter, otherwise you wouldn’t have even bothered mailing us. Choose a path, but choose the right one. I’m sure he can ride over to college once in a while. If you guys are really in love, perhaps your parents will see that over time. All parents have problems when their teenagers are in love, they’ve been there before remember? They know things. Give the relationship time, and your parents some too. Speaking of boyfriends, I need to go check what my teenage daughter is up to.

Hardcore GoT fan
Can one make a time machine? I want to go back to the Game of Thrones time and live there. It seems like so much fun, all the fighting and the killing and the dragons. Please help.
Time traveller
Dear time traveller,
So, when was the last time you got your head checked? There is not a time machine in the world that can take you to the time of Game of Thrones. It’s fiction, fool! (Said in the voice and mannerism of Mr T, from the A Team). Actually, to be honest, no one has made a time machine, that we know of. Why would you want to go there anyway? For the dragons that kill people, for the people that kill people or because you’re just bored with life in this time and reality? If you like GoT so much, I suggest you invest some time and money into buying more books from the fantasy genre and read them. Or watch movies and series. Or just get a life, in this life and time. Maybe, what you really need to do, is get up out of bed and go out into the real world. “Make a time machine and go back to the time of Game of Thrones”. I know a doctor who would just love to pick your silly brain.
