This Formula 1 season, from the outset, it seemed like it was always going to be a Mercedes year. No one else seemed to come very close, although many tried. However, most punters predicted an eventual Lewis Hamilton victory. Nico Rosberg stayed under the radar in a way, perhaps that was the reason for the way the season eventually ended, there was less pressure on him and hence, he would operate and keep a clear head. He needed that, especially after losing the title in 2014, to the man he would eventually beat “ Lewis Hamilton, his Mercedes team mate and a driver he has known since they raced in gokarts many years ago. Even then it was tough to beat Lewis, but Nico never gave up.
Perhaps some of it is due to the fact that his father Keke has been exactly where Nico was and knows what it takes to win races and more importantly, titles. Even though he came in second at the season finale in Abu Dhabi, Nico took top spot in the championship race, winning it by 5 points.
And there you have it! A German at the top of the championship tally, champagne sprayed on him by former champions Hamilton and Vettel. Nico truly deserves this one!

It's great to see a German win the world championship once again. I'm a huge Michael Schumacher fan and to hear the national anthem once again gave me goosebumps. Nico had a perfect season. He came close to winning the championship previous but he closed it out this year. What an achievement to join his dad as a champion.

I'm a Hamilton fan and was a bit disappointed but congrats to Nico. This was not Hamilton's year. Both the Mercedes drivers had the best season ever. Next year will be an even better season with the Red Bull drivers in the mix

What a well-earned championship title. It was a fierce battle all along, and all that done in great spirit. Bravo! I’m not much of a Mercedes fan, but still kudos!
