Weight gain is a very common problem and people spend a lot shedding their extra kilos. Even after drilling a big hole in their pocket, they get nearly zero result. Here’s a sigh of relief for those who want to lose weight as a new study reveals that eating dinner by mid-afternoon or skipping dinner can help in shedding weight.
According to researchers, one should follow an 18-hour fast after eating in mid-afternoon and should repeat the process on a daily basis. The process results in altering fat, reduces hunger swings and alters carbohydrate burning patterns.
“The study found that eating between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. followed by an 18-hour daily fast kept appetite levels more even throughout the day, in comparison to eating between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.,” said lead author Courtney Peterson from Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana, US. “Eating only during a much smaller window of time than people are typically used to may help with weight loss,” Peterson added.
While explaining, study authors said that the process of early time-restricted feeding (eTRF) does not reduce the calorie intake but it changes the daily hunger swings and increases fat burning hours at night which kills fat at a much higher rate.
Eating early changes the alignment with the body’s circadian clock which eventually has a positive impact on health. It improves the body metabolism and metabolic flexibility which further helps in improving body’s ability of switching between burning carbs and fats. However, scientists still don’t know whether eTRF helps in other aspects of health or it initiates weight loss. These are the preliminary findings and a study on a larger scale is required to confirm the find.
Here are some other ways to lose weight fast and burn fat even faster.
The most important part is to cut back on sugars and starches (carbs). These are the foods that stimulate secretion of insulin the most. If you didn’t know already, insulin is the main fat storage hormone in the body. When insulin goes down, fat has an easier time getting out of the fat stores and the body starts burning fats instead of carbs.
Another benefit of lowering insulin is that your kidneys shed excess sodium and water out of your body, which reduces bloat and unnecessary water weight. Hence, it is not uncommon to lose (sometimes more) in the first week of eating this way, both body fat and water weight.
The importance of eating plenty of protein can not be overstated. This has been shown to boost metabolism by 80 to 100 calories per day, so when it comes to losing weight, protein is the king of nutrients. Period.
Each one of your meals should include a protein source, a fat source and a low-carb vegetable. Constructing your meals in this way will automatically bring your carbohydrate intake into the recommended range of 20-50 grams per day.
These are the most fattening things you can put into your body, and avoiding them can help you lose weight.
Base most of your diet on whole foods. They are healthier, more filling and much less likely to cause overeating.
Poor sleep is one of the strongest risk factors for weight gain, so taking care of your sleep is important.
