Sunburn’s new avatar!Sunburn’s new avatar!

After a hiatus of three years away from Goa, Sunburn will be coming back to its birthplace this February under the name of Sunburn Klassique. The two-day festival will take place at Vagator on  February 23 and 24.

Waiting for an opportunity to return and host Sunburn in Goa, the organizers saw a glimmer of hope and attained the confidence to look for a viable partner to bring back Sunburn into the State of Goa after a recent statement of the Tourism Minister lamenting the exit of EDM Festivals and its associated impact.

Sunburn has aligned with  Shailesh Shetty of Klassique who will be representing Sunburn in Goa and taking on the onus of handling all the local logistics, permissions and licenses for ensuring a smooth and successful homecoming of Sunburn Klassique in Goa. Shailesh Shetty is well versed with the business having been a partner since inception.

Goa has been the destination of choice for the Sunburn organisers since it offers the perfect blend of culture, cuisine, sun, sand and sea, music, youth, and a vibrant lifestyle that ranges from sublime relaxation to fast paced fun and entertainment. Sunburn received great local support since the birth of the festival in Goa in 2007, and grew from a simple concept into a phenomenally successful mega global festival that saw an attendance from over 52 countries in this very destination.

The support and love Sunburn received from the locals in Goa through the initial years was overwhelming, say the organisers. After having reached a threshold of mega recognition globally, Sunburn owes a major chunk of its success to Goa.

In its come back mode, the organisers wish to continue to engage proactively to close the gaps of the past. The promoters of Sunburn Klassique promise to work assiduously with the authorities to get all the requisite permissions to ensure the event goes off smoothly without any glitches, while adding tremendous value to the local eco-system. They are very thankful to the government for its support and recent announcements and hope to have a grand homecoming.

This time Sunburn Klassique wishes to focus on quality and not size. The organizers are expecting an average attendance of five to eight thousand people per day. Their long term vision is to start with one event and depending on the success have two. Ideally, they would like to have one in the first quarter, one during the monsoon and one in the third quarter.

Sunburn Klassique will be different from any other Sunburn events that take place in different parts of the country and will not be a concert or be commercial, claim the organisers.

At the time of its exit from Goa in 2016, Sunburn’s direct contribution to the Goan economy stood at close to Rs 700 crores, besides generating employment and creating an entire ecosystem. Apart from putting the state on the world music tourism map as a preferred destination, Sunburn assures support to local businesses such as hotel, F&B, travel, shopping and transport.

The organizers are committed towards positioning Goa as the ultimate destination of choice for entertainment, lifestyle, creativity, fun and business through their initiatives with Sunburn. It is their way of paying back and thanking the beautiful destination of Goa and its people for all their love and support they have received to making Sunburn the super global iconic success that it is today.
