BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus organised TechExpo’19 on Engineers’ Day on September 15. A total of 210 school students witnessed the event. Over 100 general public and on campus students came to witness the event. There was participation from over 10 schools viz., Mushtifund High School, K B Hedgewar High School, People’s High School, Bhatikar Model High School, Almeida High School, Dhempe College, Sharada Mandir School, etc.
“The objective of the event was to make people outside of BITS aware of what we as engineering students do at BITS. This is the first time such a thing has happened, and we are hoping that such a thing would continue every year,” briefed Jay Prabodh Kamat, coordinator, TechExpo 2019.
The students will benefit the most out of this as they know what engineering is right from the time they are in high school and how important it is to think like an engineer. They also get exposure to what students do after they get into engineering colleges like BITS Pilani.
The expo witnessed a wide range of engineering projects (19 in number) ranging from robots, cars, drones, telescopes to projects on persistence of vision and Schleiren photography. The list of the projects is attached in the email.
The event began at 10 am and closed at 2.30 pm with highlights on the speciality of the day, September 15 which is Engineers Day. There were talks given by various project heads describing their projects. There was also a live demonstration of the car and a drone show to mark the end of the event on a high note.
“We had a very dedicated team which was working really hard to get this idea of the event into reality. It took efforts of four months to finally see it happen. We are very grateful to the director, Dr Raghurama G who was very supportive,” stated Jay.
