Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ The Adventures of Don Quixote, South Korean artist, Sung Dong-Hun has created a collection of fantastical sculptures assembled from vintage gizmos like music boxes, toy horses, trinket cases and workshop gadgetry to critique socio-cultural paradigms such as commercial ambition, consumerism and urban decay.

Some of the works include the raised hoof of a reclaimed toy horse morphs into a barren tree branch, an open music box displays a horse and its rider configured from nothing but spare baubles and gizmos; a miniature, gilded rickshaw replaces one hoof of an antiquated wooden cow while a metal statuette substitutes its missing ear; a raging bull is mounted by some variance of Don Quixote, his face suggested by nothing more than a carved trinket case.

As the artist worked on this new body of work in MOG's artist studios, Museum of Goa is holding the exhibition of these sculptures entitled, The New Case for Time.

Sung Dong-Hun has been Director of the International Desert Project, which has been held in India, Mongolia, South Korea and the USA. His recent solo exhibitions include shows in Austria, Taiwan and South Korea. Dong-Hun created a permanent public sculpture, , for Kaohsiung International Iron & Steel Sculpture Festival, Taiwan and The World Expo, Shanghai (2010).
