ON AAMIR KHAN ...
Commenting on the recent intolerance comment made by actor Aamir Khan, Shroff said that people should ask him why he made that statement before jumping to conclusions. “ Everybody has the right to speech and if someone has an objection to something, he has the right to protest. And we should be tolerant of another person's views too,” he said.

Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has stated that he would love to make a documentary narrating the story of his mother's escape from Central Asia to Mumbai as a little girl, sometime in the future.
“ My mother and her siblings along with her grandmother were forced to escape from Central Asia and came to Mumbai when she was just seven years old. There was a coup going on in the neighbouring country and as the horde were attacking the clan, they rubbed garlic paste all over their bodies which caused them to break out in boils. It looked like a horrible disease and the enemies would not touch them,” revealed Jackie Shroff. “I would like to make a documentary on it as I want this story to last for future generations so that even my son's children and grandchildren should know about it. If not I will write a book on it.”
The actor was speaking at a press conference to announce the 14th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival which will be held from January 28 to February 3, where he has been appointed as the brand ambassador. The festival, which showcases documentaries and short films. has received 819 entries this year and will witness the participation of 24 nations. The festival will also have a homage section, jury retrospective and films from the Wadia brothers among its many attractions. Apart from this there will be workshops, seminars and open forums. There will also be a MIFF zone, where some of the competition films will be screened at seven centres ( Delhi, Thrissur, Guwahati, Nagpur, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai and Bengaluru) across the country to give them a feel of the festival. For the first time they have also introduced a new media and animation section, which according to Shroff is a good idea as everyone loves animation. “ The heart never grows older. You may act smart and intellectual but inside we are all babies and cartoon characters can bring happiness even today,” said Shroff, adding that the Lion King made him cry.
Shroff further added that he was happy to be associated with the festival and would love to act in a documentary someday. “I grew up watching documentaries made by Film Division and they have have a lot of heart to it. They show you where it actually hurts,” he said. “ Although there are films being made on serious issues too now, many have the action, song and dance sequence too. But with documentaries you can to get straight to the facts.”
The actor who will next be seen in Houseful 3, besides having a Punjabi and a Gujarati film in the lineup, and whose son Tiger has taken up in his father's footsteps stated that he doesn't impose himself on him. “I don't tell him anything about his career. As a sportsperson he has been trained to be disciplined and follows a strict regime,” he said. And while the social media recently went gung-ho over daughter Krishna's 'topless' photographs, the actor was quick to state that while she (Krishna) teaches basketball in school, nobody writes about that.
