Take a look at the last set of mail that your post man delivered to you. What does it contain? Perhaps a few bills and some official documents, all pretty boring. Do you remember the last time you got a more personal card or letter perhaps?
For most of us it was most likely eons ago. It seems like a lifetime since a celebration in the house or a festival meant that your table would be filled with a bunch of cards and letters to pour over and smile. To feel remembered. Now, apart from the odd card, the table is bare. Card shops are a little less empty. Wishes from friends and family that live far away usually come through other quicker modes of communication.
While the e-card did for awhile replace an actual card, even this trend has pretty much gone extinct. Instead most of your wishes today come either by a Whatsapp or a Facebook message. Even so, there are many who have refused to abandon the joy of writing out and sending out personal cards to loved ones.

I'm an old fashioned person. In a modern day world filled with social media it is easy to reach out to people “ loved ones, friends and family. But there is no personal touch that goes with it. I'd like to compare it with reading a hardcopy novel versus reading the same on Kindle. The feeling of the pages, there is something different and more personal about it . Hence I still prefer writing out a card or a letter and at times make one from scratch if time permits because there is more love and affection that flows in that little effort than just a silly text or a post on Facebook. I have two friends “ one in Brazil and one in Portugal. We made a promise to send each other a postcard/letter/card to each other whenever we can. It's been two years since we did this and we still have it going “ Renee Pinto, Panaji
It's just a personal preference. Technology changes with time and new modes of communication come out, it's only a tool At the end of the day it's the genuine intend and care behind one's message or greeting which is mostly lacking these days “ Malcolm Phimister, Siolim
I love making my own cards. It started out as a hobby but as I delved more into art and designing cards it became a way for me to express myself to everyone around me. I love seeing the smiles on people's faces when they receive it “ Maria Kimberly Furtado, Benaulim
Writing letters and cards is so much more personal than texting and since a lot of family and friends are not in the same city it is a nice way to keep in touch. Also, it's got so much nostalgia attached to it and that's another draw for me “ Desiree Alemao, Panaji
