No respite from rising number of cases in Bardez, over 90 positive



There has been no respite in the rise of Covid cases in Bardez with over 90 new positive cases reported on Wednesday.

Mapusa Urban Health Centre reported 29 new cases, with nine persons testing positive in Khorlim, six in Peddem, three in Xelpem, two each in Carravaddo, Gaunsavaddo and Duler and one each in Dangui Colony, Ekta Nagar, Altinho, Angod and Dattawadi.

Mapusa UHC Health Officer Dr Cheryl de Souza informed that on an average 50 persons are tested in the health centre. She, however, said the testing drops during the weekends due to scarcity of staff.

Candolim Primary Health Centre (PHC) reported a total of 24 cases. Five persons each tested positive in Candolim and Reis Magos, four each in Calangute and Saligao, two each in Pilerne and Arpora and one each in Nerul and Sangolda.

Similarly, 22 persons tested positive in the jurisdiction of Colvale PHC.

Colvale PHC Health Officer Dr Damodar Navenkar informed that eight persons were found to have the viral infection in Colvale, four in Revora, three in Colvale jail, two each in Nadora, Pirna and Sirsaim and one in Assonora.

19 positive cases were reported from the Siolim PHC – Anjuna (9), Siolim (4), Assagao (3), Canca (2) and Parra (1). 

Aldona PHC reported just one positive case on Wednesday when a person from Nachinola tested positive.
