It was really sad to see that in many areas, people were brought out by force to vote in the Zilla elections.
A number of elderly people who could hardly walk were also brought to the polling stations in vehicles.
In several areas, villagers also boycotted the polls. The polling percentage this time was less compared to the last election. This only goes to show that people are not interested in these polls.
Elected zilla members over the years have been fighting for more powers to undertake development. But till date, these zillas have neither the money nor the power for any developmental activity.
This should definitely be an eye opener for all as I feel that zilla panchayat elections are waste of time and waste of public money.
With the results to be announced on December 14, let us hope that this time the elected representatives will get more power and work in the interest of the public.
