Can Sawant turn the tide in favour of BJP in MMC?

Can Sawant turn the tide in favour of BJP in MMC?

Can Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant turn the tide in favour of the saffron brigade and ensure the saffron flag flies high atop the Margao Municipal building. The CM is scheduled to descend in the city on Sunday to drum up support for the party-backed Vibrant Margao candidates. Take note, local party workers have been working on the ground to get the magic figure of 13, the bare number of seats needed to form the Council. Even the CM knows for sure that Margao is a prestigious Municipality going to the polls on April 23.

Reginaldo & GPCC leadership row

Why does Congress MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco feel that the Congress leadership has rubbed salt on his wounds by inducting him on the Coordination panel as its vice-chairman? Reason. Many, including Reginaldbab believed that the Coordination panel headed by Ramakantbab Khalap was constituted by the party leadership as a stop-gap arrangement to pave way for the replacement of GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar. Reginaldbab, who had vowed not to step in the Congress office as long as Girishbab remains in the saddle, made his presence felt in all the party offices, thinking that Girishbab is on the way out. Any questions?

Testing time for Congress old guard

It’s indeed a testing time for the Congress old guard in Goa. For quite some time now, party veterans have been demanding a change in the GPCC leadership, but in vain. A couple of senior party leaders had publicly called for a change in the party leadership, even going to the extent of telling the media that they have kept the High Command in the loop. They have been vocal in saying the Congress may struggle to win the 2022 with the current state of affairs, but have no answer why Goa does not figure in the scheme of things of the High Command.

Acid test for Damu in Fatorda

Damubab Naik is facing an acid test to his political career. The two-time former Fatorda MLA is back in action in Fatorda as he leads the BJP’s campaign for the ensuing Margao Municipal polls. In the 2015 polls, Damubab and his party could not win a single seat in the 11 wards coming under Fatorda constituency, with rival Vijaibab Sardesai and his Fatorda Forward making a clean sweep with an 11-0 margin. The two-time former Fatorda MLA is leaving no stone unturned to get the better of his arch political rival. Wait and watch.

Regional parties wary of AAP’s 2022 agenda

Aam Aadmi Party Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia’s announcement that AAP would contest all the 40 Assembly seats in 2022 has raised many an eyebrow amongst the regional players. For, local political players were left to believe that AAP may not be averse in doing business with a couple of local players minus the Congress in the coming polls. Post-Sisodia’s announcement, sources say leaders of regional parties have been trying to figure out AAP’s agenda in 2022. Wait and watch.

Reginaldo unhappy in Congress party?

It was a week when speculations were rife that the irrepressible Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has quit the Congress Coordination panel. That Reginaldo later denied the reports as just rumours was another thing. Sources, however, say the three-time MLA is unhappy with the functioning of the panel and its objective. Having given his consent for his appointment as the panel vice chairman, Reginaldo has told his aides the party has only rubbed salt on the wounds of…
