GUILHERME ALMEIDA | MAY 03, 2025, 11:58 PM IST

The Congress seemed gearing up to open the party doors to politicians ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Sources in the know informed that party leaders have shortlisted a couple of politicians to rope them in the party. Reports did the rounds in political circles that the party may soon welcome a politician from Tiswadi taluka into the party. Similarly, the party has been approached by young Turks from Margao to join the party. Wait and watch as some of the party leaders are reportedly on the job to shortlist politicians to get them in the party fold.

Octaviobab’s visit to Delhi

significant given CoP's stance

Hazard a guess at what message did Captain of Ports, Goa Capt Octaviobab Rodrigues convey to the Inland Waterways Authority of India  during his visit to the National Capital earlier this week. Well, Octaviobab was spotted at the Goa Niwas as he had reportedly come to attend a meeting of the IWAI in Delhi. Against the backdrop of the stand adopted by the Captain of Ports, insisting that Goa government say is final in matters as per the Memorandum of Understanding, Octaviobab’s visit to the National capital indeed assumed significance. Wait and watch.

Margao MLA outscores Transport

minister at Spirit of Goa festival

It was a week when Margao MLA Diggu literally scored over Transport Minister Mauvinbab Godinho at the Spirit of Goa festival. While taking a round at the festival venue, the duo came across a stall wherein one has to roll a nut into a hole to test one’s capability. Mauvinbab tried his hands with the coconut, but came a cropper. When Diggu’s turn came, a confident looking Margao MLA  rolled the coconut into the hole with ease, drawing applause from the guests and officials.  Any questions?

MLA grateful to CM for role in

sanctioning Spirit of Goa at Colva

Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas profusely thanked Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohanbab Khaunte for sanctioning the Spirit of Goa festival at Colva. Both the CM and his Tourism Minister were conspicuous by their absence at the inaugural ceremony, but Venzybab recalled how the duo played their role in sanctioning the festival to Colva. Besides the Spirit of Goa festival, the government had sanctioned beach volleyball In Benaulim last year. Venzybab must be anxiously waiting for the government to sanction similar events in his constituency in the run up to the 2027 polls. You know why.

Power official Shetye could be

pain in neck for Margao politicos

Senior Power official Kashinath Shetye might emerge as a thorn in the flesh of Margao politicians, but for a different reason --  the invasion of gaddas on the footpath near the Aquem Power house. The no nonsense power official has set an ultimatum for the gadda operators to either vacate the footpath or face action. The moot question, however, remains unanswered – who has patronized the gaddas on the footpaths when the High Court’s guidelines mandates local bodies to keep the footpaths clear from encroachments.  And, how come the gaddas had escaped the attention of the Margao Municipal Council? Wait and watch as many a question remains unanswered.
