After the much-publicised mudslinging between Revolutionary Goans supremo Manojbab Parab and Congress chief Amitbab Patkar, political observers are on the job to assess the fall out, if any, of the development in the Congress camp. For, sources do not rule out the possibility of opponents of the GPCC chief bringing the incident under the High Command’s scanner. Sources even say one should not be surprised if opponents intensify the Patkar hatao campaign. Observers, however, say the High Command is presently busy preoccupied with elections in the five States with party leaders busy on the campaign mode. Wait and watch after December 3, the day when the results of the Assembly polls will be out.
When Churchill tried to score brownie points in Curtorim
It was a week when Varca strongman Bab Churchill descended at Raia in Curtorim constituency to extend his wishes to a close friend, BJP ST leader birthday boy Anthonybab Barbosa. Churchillbab made no political speech from Barbosa’s birthday platform in a constituency represented by friend-turned-foe, Reginaldbab Lourenco. Girish all praise for leader over display of Cong flags
Congress Working Committee permanent member and ex-GPCC chief, Girishbab Chodankar seemed impressed with Congress leader Pradipbab Naik’s gesture in putting up party flags at public places. Pradipbab, sources said, is on a job to display party flags in a bid to make the party’s presence felt in some of the constituencies. Girishbab’s opponents, however, say Pradipbab is being backed by the ex-GPCC chief as a candidate for the GPCC post in the event the Party High Command considers a change in leadership and Girishbab’s candidature no longer finds favour with the leadership. He descended on the Raia grounds couple of months ago to play football. Last month again saw heavyweight Reginaldbab Lourenco on the playing arena, this time playing beach volleyball at Varca at the world beach volleyball championship. As curtains came down on the National Games football championship earlier this week, Reginaldbab was invited as the Chief Guest at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda to do the honours of distributing prizes to the winners and runners-up. Questions raised over ‘polluting’ fish meal plants at Cuncolim Ind
This may make reading very interesting. As Cuncolkars battle against pollution at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate, one question that has still found no answer is how come fish meal plants are operating at the estate if they are polluting. Cuncolkars very well know who had bulldozed with permissions for the fish meal plants at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate. If new fish meal plants are opposed in certain quarters, including the Cuncolim Municipal Council, on grounds they are polluting, the million dollar question remains unanswered – how come the existing plant is not shut down till date on the same ground of causing pollution. Interesting, isn’t it? Indeed time for introspection.
