CM 2.0: Sawant silences detractors

As Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant braces up to take oath of office on Monday, he may silence his opponents, taunting him as the accidental Chief Minister. When Pramodbab had succeeded late Manohar Parrikar in 2019, his opponents were quick to slam him as the accidental Chief Minister on the plea he would have never had occupied the post if not for the unfortunate and untimely demise of Manohar Parrikar. Pramodbab may prove a point or two to all his detractors on Monday with the BJP top leadership once again endorsing his candidature for the coveted post. Any question?

GPCC chief, Oppn leader: Pitch for new faces

Appointment of a new Congress president and Opposition leader has become a subject matter of debate in Congress circles and outside after AICC observer Rajini Patil’s visit to the State. While Congressmen may wait for party president Sonia Gandhi to take a call on the matter, a section of the leadership has mulled fresh and new faces to take over the reigns of office of party president and Opposition leader. A section of partymen are insisting that the party should zero in on a candidate, who has no attachment to any of the camps. Any takers?

Kamat’s aides lobbying for his reappointment?

When AICC observer Rajini Patil visited the South Goa office for an assessment of the party’s electoral debacle and to seek views of partymen ahead of appointment of the Opposition leader and GPCC chief, close aides and supporters of senior Congress leader Diggu swarmed around the office in strength. Political observers are trying to figure out whether Diggu’s aides had come in strength to lobby for his reappointment as Opposition leader or otherwise. Wait and watch.

Luizinho has task at hand to revive TMC

Trinamool Congress party MP Luizinho Faleiro was at his usual best when he highlighted issues plaguing Goa in the Rayja Sabha. Back home, he a task at hand, how to revive the TMC after the party’s bid to establish foothold in the state came a cropper. Post-results, nothing much has been heard from the TMC leadership on the party’s debacle though Luizinhbab in private say the party was not expecting miracles having entered the fray just three months before election.  Wait and watch as TMC leader Sushmita Dev and others leaders are likely to descend in the state during the weekend.

Will Churchill-Valanka stay put in TMC?

As TMC leaders are excepted to descend in Goa during the weekend, apparently to revive the party, nothing has been heard from Churchillbab Alemao post-election result. It still isn’t clear whether Churchillbab will stay put with the TMC or will chart out his own independent political course or will call it a day in politics. Churchillbab’s brief honeymoon with the TMC had ended after the 2014 Lok Sabha electoral debacle. Wait and watch whether the Churchill-Valanka duo will stay put with the TMC after their defeat in the Assembly polls.
