Dissolution of Cong blocks leaves ’em all guessing

THE DISSOLUTION of the Congress blocks by the Party High Command has triggered a debate of sorts within the Congress and outside. Observers are trying to figure out whether the dissolution of the blocks by Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao, hours after P Chidambaram left the state is an indication of the changes likely to take place in the party set up. Questions are asked whether the action is aimed at accommodating the supporters of the new entrants on the block committees, or is an attempt to cut certain leaders to size, who had stuffed their aides on the committees. Wait and watch.

Yet another anti-coal activist for Congress team

ACTIVIST OLENCIO Simoes is all set to embrace the Congress on Sunday. Olencio’s name has been doing the rounds in political circles for some time on his move to join the Congress after quitting the Aam Admi Party. Olencio took the final call after he called on AICC Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao at a Margao hotel earlier this week. Sources in the know say that Olencio was accompanied to the AICC Goa desk in-charge by a group of anti-coal and anti-track doubling activists. Another anti-coal activist Jose Raju Cabral has already embraced the Congress last week. Interesting, isn’t it?

Big question: How did Mickky make it to Cong?

FLAMBOYANT MICKKYBAB Pacheco’s entry into the Congress via Delhi is still the talking point in political circles. Party leaders and workers are still grappling with the question how come Mickkybab made his way into the party by keeping the local leadership in the dark. Those calling the shots in the state unit claim Goa desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao too is not responsible for getting Mickkybab into the party. This has only made inquisitive leaders to find out how the former MLA managed his entry, leaving many to wonder whether it has anything to do with the Vadras or bigwigs from a north Indian state. Wait and watch.

May not be an easy going for Luizinho in Navelim

CONGRESS VETERAN Luizinhhab Faleiro may suddenly realize that there may not be dearth of candidates bracing up to throw their hat in the Navelim election ring. Indeed, a host of candidates have announced their plans to contest from Navelim in2022. If Pratimabai Coutinho is moving around Navelim, handing over food items under the AAP banner, young Digvijit Chawan had announced his candidature last week. The weekend saw Navelkars proposing the candidature of educationist Antonio Alvares. Wait and watch as Luizinhbab is yet to announce his election plans for 2022.

Yuri’s formula of cooperation works for Congress

WHEN YURI Alemao made his surprise presence at the Congress House when rival Elvis Gomes joined the party, he won accolades from senior leaders for not precipitating matters for the local leadership. The Yuri formula has now come in handy for the Congress leadership to keep resentment and opposition to new entrants at bay. The formula was implemented in Nuvem last Sunday when Jose Cabral joined the party in the presence of local heavyweight and strong ticket contender, Alexiobab Sequeira. Guess the architect behind the Yuri formula – the Diggu-Girish duo or Diggu’s aideVishalbab Kakode.
