Congress veteran Luizinhbab Faleiro appears sore over the opposition walk-out from the Assembly, but for a different reason. The Navelim MLA had tabled a private resolution, seeking to know the status of food testing facility, formalin in fish. A debate on food testing, sources say would have brought back formalin and the mafia to the fore. It’s unclear whether the Congress veteran had tabled the resolution to checkmate certain leaders from interfering in his fiefdom through the mafia. GPCC Chief Girishbab Chodankar’s statement that the Congress would scrap Section 16-B and set up fish testing lab to ensure formalin-free fish for Goans if it comes to power in 2022, has become a subject matter of debate in political circles.
