Any guess on the BJP leaders whose names figure in the list of prospective candidates for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat for the 2024 polls. Well, if sources are to be believed at least four names of party leaders seemed doing the rounds in party circles for the job. Ex-South Goa MP Narendrabai Sawaikar’s name figures in the list, but the names of three other leaders also seemed doing the rounds, including two Congress-turned-BJP leaders, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, ex-DyCM Babu Kavlekar, and of course two-time former Fatorda MLA Damubab Naik. Vijai’s interaction with citizens in North Goa raises eyebrows
Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai’s presence in North Goa over the last one week, crisscrossing right from Bhoma to Patradevi and his plans for interactions with citizens from the North of river Zuari every Wednesday, has indeed raised many an eyebrow in political circles. For, this comes against the backdrop of reports that a section of party leadership is insisting that the regional party throw its hat in the Lok Sabha election ring in 2024. Churchill’s Mumbai visit sparks speculations
Varca strongman Bab Churchill, sources said, headed to Mumbai on Friday, raising speculations whether his visit was personal or anything to do with politics. Sources informed that Churchillbab has reportedly told his aides that he has been called by the NCP leadership in Mumbai. It wasn’t, however, clear which faction of the NCP, had called him to Mumbai. Take note, the NCP is not new for Churchillbab having contested and won on the party symbol from his fiefdom Benaulim in the 2017 Assembly polls. Wait and watch.
All eyes on AICC observer Tagore’s visit next week
All eyes seemed focused on the visit of the AICC observer for Goa Manickam Tagore scheduled early next week, with party leaders hoping that his visit will bring about a truce amongst the warring party factions. Sources in the know pointed out that the issue of suspension of the five party leaders by State Congress chief Amitbab Patkar may figure during Tagore’s visit to the State. While the five leaders are believed to have submitted their apologies to senior leader M K Sheikh, the suspensions have not been revoked till date. Wait and watch.
