Have long-time political rivals Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardeai and ex-Congress chief Girishbab Chodankar finally buried their hatchet, is a question doing the rounds in Saxtti countryside over the last one week. Reason: The duo was spotted at the civil society’s programme on communalism at the Lohia Maidan, Margao on Gandhi Jayanti. Both referred to each other in their speeches as they walked together to pay homage to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia and the martyrs. Reports have been doing the rounds in political circles in the recent past whether the arc political rivals have let bygones be bygones. What could be the possible reasons behind the reported truce between Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai and ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar? Well, political observers are trying to figure out whether it has anything to do with the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Both Vijaibab and Girishbab are known sworn enemies of sitting South Goa MP Francisbab Sardinha. That’s not all. Girishbab has set his eyes on the South Goa Lok Sabha Congress ticket. On the other hand, sources say Vijaibab may not want Sardinhbab to get a nomination from the Congress party. In 2014, Vijaibab was accused of scuttling Sardinhbab’s Lok Sabha ticket. Wait and watch.

ready before State polls in 2027
What message did Luizinhbab Faleiro sought to convey when he said that Indian politicians do not retire? Well, the ex-Rajya Sabha MP made the remark when questioned by a scribe whether he plans to return to electoral politics. Luizinhbab, however, made another interesting statement on his political future. He did not say he intends to call it a day in politics. Instead, he pointed out that “for the moment”, he is busy penning another book. This time, he said, the book will be centered on a “Better Goa”, a road map how the state can move forward in all spheres of life with the excellent indicators.
