PWD Minister Nileshbab Cabral is believed to have saved an embarrassment for the BJP government earlier this month. It so happened that the authorities had fixed inspection of the river Sal on December 3, coinciding with the feast of St Francis Xavier. Officials shortlisted for inspection wondered how come they are called for work on a holiday when the State is celebrating the feast of the Patron Saint of Goa. Former CM late Manoharbhai Parrikar had earned brickbats for cancelling certain holidays, including the holiday on Good Friday. With the atmosphere surcharged over river Sal, Cabral is believed to have stepped in to postpone the inspection on December 3. Any questions?
