When trouble-shooter DK played his role during the 2022 Goa polls

Why is Karnataka strongman DK Shivakumar often called as Congress’ trouble shooter?  Politicians from Goa may have an answer. For, DK sources said, was deputed to Goa by the Congress High Command on the eve of counting of votes in the 2022 Assembly polls. It’s an open secret that DK had called on Varca strongman Churchillbab Alemao. And, he also had an interaction with Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai. Sources said DK also called on a couple of Independents and was believed to have promised them Cabinet berths in lieu of support for the Congress. It’s another matter that Congress was stranded way behind with just 11 seats in the 2022 election.

What’s cooking between Sawant and Vijai?

It was a week when political observers were indeed trying to figure out what’s going on between two bitter political foes – Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant and bete noire Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai. Consider this. First, the duo publicly spoke over the telephone, with Vijaibab calling up the CM midway through a media briefing and Pramodbab returning the phone call. And, now what was proposed by Vijaibab to convene a meeting of the High Powered Coordination Committee (HPCC) on Sonsodo has been disposed of by Pramodbab within two days by convening a meeting of the CM-headed HPCC on Monday. Wait and watch.

Power or no power: Aleixo on job to tone up power infra in Nuvem

Power or no power, Congress-turned-BJP MLA Aleixobab Sequeira seemed to have got down to tone up the power infrastructure in Nuvem constituency. Days after he took up cudgels for the regularisation of the electricity staff hailing from Nuvem, Aleixobab says he has got the approval for underground power cabling in the villages of Betalbatim, Majorda and Utorda in his constituency. Wait and watch as Aleixobab along with Margao MLA Diggu had been waiting since the last eight months for the saffron brigade to reward them with Cabinet berths.

Luizinho gearing up for his book release on battle for Konkani

Ex-Rajya Sabha MP Luizinhbab Faleiro might have maintained a low key after he quit the Rajya Sabha seat over a month ago. The willy and astute former Chief Minister seemed in a tearing hurry at home. Reason. He is rushing with his book on the battle for Konkani and Statehood with plans to release on May 30 coinciding with Goa Statehood Day. He declines to talk politics, but many say Luizinhbab is just bidding his time to return back to active politics in Goa, possibly after the monsoons. His book, sources said, is expected to refresh the memories of Goemkars, more so the younger generation, Goemkar’s battle to realise the twin aspirations of Konkani as the official language and statehood for Goa.

Is Sawant keeping Kamat in good humour with projects in Margao?

Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s announcement of slew of projects in Congress-turned-BJP MLA Diggu’s fiefdom makes reading interesting. With the promised Cabinet berth for Diggu still not materialising till date, political observers were quick to wonder whether the CM’s promised projects for Margao is the way of keeping the Congress turncoat in good humour. That Pramodbab went to the extent of calling Diggu as his “Big Brother” goes to show that the CM is out to placate the former Congress CM with the High Command’s nod for the Cabinet rejig still not forthcoming. Any questions?
