Yatra success: Yuri-Altone duo earns Girish’s praise

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) chief Girishbab Chodankar was lavish in his praise for Leader of Opposition Yuribab Alemao and Congress Working Committee member and Quepem MLA Altonbab D’Costa for their roles in the recently concluded Goy Rakhonn Yatra. For a moment, political observers were left wondering why Girishbab has singled out the Yuri-Altone duo when several other leaders had also put their heart and soul into the nearly month-long yatra. The answer soon became apparent: the two MLAs had contributed immensely, both financially and in terms of manpower, to ensure the yatra’s success. Any questions?

Mickky’s Benaulim move sparks political buzz

Flamboyant former Minister Mickkybab Pacheco’s move to return to Benaulim after more than a decade has become a talking point in Saxtti’s political circles. The reason? Mickkybab last won an Assembly election from Nuvem in 2012. That’s not all. Although he had earlier won three elections from Benaulim, including a by-election, Mickky is no longer a voter in the constituency, as his native village of Betalbatim falls under Nuvem. So, what has prompted the flamboyant former Minister to return to Benaulim? Is he wary of the possibility of Nuvem being reserved for Scheduled Tribes, or is there more than meets the eye? Wait and watch.

Filipe Neri keeps birthday quiet, poll plans open

Former Minister Filipe Neribab Rodrigues celebrated his birthday earlier this week, with supporters and well-wishers trickling into his Sirlim residence to extend their greetings. The former four-time Velim MLA’s decision to keep the celebrations low-key has itself become a talking point in Velim’s political circles. It has also triggered speculation about whether Filipe Neribab will throw his hat into the electoral ring in 2027. Sources say the former Minister is keeping all option open how to go about in the upcoming polls.

Digambar dares Congress to test its claims in 2027

PWD Minister Digambarbab Kamat is a senior politician who would not normally react to statements made by political rivals. However, when a Congress team led by GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar, accompanied by local Congress leaders Saviobab Coutinho and Chiragbab Naik, attacked him over the venue for Rahul Gandhi’s rally, Diggu decided to call a spade a spade. He not only rubbished the Congress’ claims but also made a deft move to take the issue directly to the people, asserting that Madgavkars would give his adversaries a befitting reply in 2027. Any takers?

Cong leader’s push for new entrants raises questions

Who is this Congress leader, believed to be a second-rung leader, whose name is reportedly doing the rounds within party circles for allegedly batting the entry of newcomers into the party fold? Well, Congressmen claim that this leader has been working overtime to bring new entrants from Benaulim, Nuvem and other constituencies. With questions being asked why the party is keen to open doors for new entrants on the eve of polls, the name of this second-rung leader is now doing the rounds within Congress circles. Wait and watch.
