Aleixo leaving nothing to chance to give BJP lead in his fiefdom

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | APRIL 14, 2024, 12:39 AM IST

Congress-turned-BJP MLA and Saxtti’s lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira seemed leaving nothing to chance in his bid to give the BJP a lead over the Congress on his home turf Nuvem in the May 7 Lok Sabha poll. Every time Aleixobab organises a function in the constituency, he does not stop making an appeal to the constituents to vote for the BJP to strengthen the hands of his immediate boss, CM Pramodbab Sawant. His birthday celebrations earlier this week was no different. Known for his organisational skills, Aleixobab not only threw a birthday bash, but used the platform to woo his supporters towards the BJP. Promises to provide 700 plots and legalise dhirios by the heavyweight shows he means business. Any questions?

What’s Sardinha’s next move as he celebrates b’day next week

What’s lining on the birthday of South Goa Francisbab Sardinha scheduled next week? More than anything else, well-wishers and Congress workers may be anxious to know whether Sardinhbab has any message for them ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. After being denied the Congress ticket, Sardinhbab has been sulking over being sidelined by the party leadership for the ticket. So far, Sardinhbab is believed to have told Congress leaders that he would not join Capt Viriatbab’s campaign in South Goa. Wait and watch whether he has other plans in store on his birthday.

All eyes on Kamat as Margao Cong plans to checkmate him in LS polls

Has Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu anything to say on Congress’ plan to ensure the BJP does not lead over the Congress in the May 7 Lok Sabha polls? Well, after his thumping victory against ex-Dy CM Babu Ajgaonkar in Margao in the 2022 Assembly polls, an emboldened Diggu has set a target of 10,000-vote lead for Pallavi Dempo. The Congress, however, is not willing to concede defeat. In fact, the party led by bête noire Saviobab Coutinho has drawn up plans to checkmate Diggu right in his fiefdom. Wait and watch.

When Babu admitted to sharing close rapport with ‘Baba’ Dempo

It was a week when the Ajgaonkar brothers joined BJP South Goa candidate Pallavibai Dempo’s election campaign. When Pallavibai Dempo with Diggu in tow walked into the Gandhi market, the fiefdom of the Ajgaonkar brothers, ex-Dy CM Babu Ajgaonkar accorded a red carpet welcome to the BJP candidate in his territory. In his inimitable fashion, Babu admitted that he shares a close rapport with Baba. But, before he could continue his speech, Babu clarified that he is not referring to the Margao MLA Digambar popularly known as Baba in the lanes and bylanes of Margao, but Pallavibai’s husband, Shrinivasbab affectionately known as Baba in sports and social circles. Any questions?

Losing out on ticket, Girish gets back to party work in Northeast

Ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar seemed to have taken in his stride party’s decision to nominate Capt Viriatobab Fernandes for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat. Having lost the race for the ticket, Girishbab is back to party work, heading to the North East where he has been appointed as an Observer for four states, including Manipur. The ex-PCC chief had made a determined bid to get the party nomination for the South Goa seat before he lost the close race. Girishbab’s loss may be Congress’ gain as he was in Manipur during the weekend with local party leaders and workers in the violence-hit state, gearing up for the poll. Any takers?
