The MP was not in Goa when the Congress announced the names of star campaigners. In fact, Sardinhbab has returned home only on Saturday evening after setting in motion the process to vacate his MP house in Delhi. But, will Sardinhbab descend on the battleground for the Congress or whether the leadership had included his name in the list of star campaigners, hoping the MP will change his stand. Wait and watch.

What’s lining up at the meeting of workers convened by Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai in Fatorda on Sunday in support of Congress and Alliance candidate Capt Viriatbab Fernandes? Well, the meeting assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the BJP not only completing a round of campaigning, but has moved around the wards of Fatorda with party candidate Pallavibai Dempo. The meeting also assumes significance as it will indicate whether the partners of the INDIA bloc who had crossed swords against Vijaibab in the 2022 Assembly election will share the dais. Some citizens cutting across party lines back Capt Viriato in Nuvem
Like-minded citizens, cutting across political lines, seemed to have finally come together in minority-dominated Nuvem Assembly segment with a one-point agenda – to give a huge lead for the INDIA bloc candidate Capt Viriatbab Fernandes in the May 7 Lok Sabha polls. The development assumes significance and comes days after Congress-turned-BJP MLA and Saxtti’s lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira took a pledge to give a lead for BJP candidate Pallavibai Dempo in Nuvem. If indications emanating from the meeting held at Majorda are any indication, the like-minded citizens have vowed to back Viriatbab to the hilt and give the Congress candidate a massive lead. The battle has begun in right earnest.
Winds of change: Capt Viriato gets Cong opponent Radharao’s support
Former United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) ideologue and political commentator Adv Radharaobab Gracias has extended support to Congress candidate Capt Viriatbab Fernandes. Radharaobab, who had opposed MP Francisbab Sardinha’s re-nomination for the South Goa seat, had also expressed reservations to the moves by Congress to give the ticket to ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar. A strong opponent of Congress over the years, Radharaobab seemed to have supported the Congress not out of love for the opposition party, but on the premise that the Congress and Capt Viriatbab may be in a better position to checkmate the saffron brigade.
