Goans Hockey lost 9-0 to Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey in their first league match of the Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship, in Chandigarh, on Monday.
The Goan boys coached by Aviraj Madgaonkar were no match for their opponents and conceded a goal as early as the sixth minute. Thereafter, the goal scoring continued uninterrupted.
The Union Territory boys dominated the game throughout the 60-minute encounter earning 12 penalty corners in the process and converting three of them into goals.
On the other hand, Goans Hockey got four penalty corners but had nothing to show in terms of goals from the four they got. Off the four penalty corners they got, two they forced in the first quarter and the next two in the last quarter.
Mithlesh Singh, who notched a hat-trick in the match scored in the sixth minute through a penalty corner and thereafter successfully converted two more penalty corners in the 25 and 27th minute to make it 4-0.
In between Mithlesh goals, Jitin scored a goal in the 14th minute and added a second one to his name in the 53rd minute. Yadav Pawan (29th minute) and Ravindra Pratap Yadav (56th minute) scored one goal each. Sagar also scored two goals in the 36th and 49th minutes.
Goans Hockey will play their second match on Tuesday against Gujarat and third and last match on Thursday against Tamil Nadu.
