Varca Sports Club and United Club of Benaulim battled to a 1-1 stalemate in their GFA Third Division clash at St. John Baptist ground, Dando, Benaulim, on Monday. Benaulim took the lead just before the break, with Bruno Dias smashing home to put his team ahead.
Varca, however, found their equalizer late in the second half, thanks to Narayan Mestri’s 85th-minute strike. Despite Benaulim’s relentless push in the final moments, Varca’s Clyde Pereira stood firm at the back, ensuring the points were shared.
Elsewhere, Vaddem Sports Club and Patrong Sports Club played out a 2-2 thriller at Tilak Maidan, Vasco. Arman Yadav and Aster Thenamthara netted for Patrong, while Amit Lataye and Ekalaya Kamble responded for Vaddem.
In a dominant display, Assonora United hammered Sirsaim SWC 5-0 at Quitula ground. Niraj D’mello stole the show with a hat-trick, while Pruthviraj Gosavi and Gaurav Naik added to the rout, securing a comprehensive win for Assonora.
