Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, secured their spot in the finals by decisively defeating Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, with a score of 9-0 to book their place in the final of the Goa University inter-collegiate women's football championship, at Goa University ground.
The first half showcased Rosary College's aggressive strategy, resulting in five goals. Notable performances included two goals from Swellen Fernandes, scored in the 18th and 35 minutes, and a remarkable hat trick from Vinoshka Fernandes in the 21st, 24th, and 39th minutes.
The second half saw Rosary College continue their offensive onslaught, adding four more goals. The scoring spree began with Aniela Barretto finding the net in the 52nd minute, followed by another from Swellen in the 60th minute. Vinoshka completed her stellar performance with two additional goals in the 65th and 70th minutes.
In the other semi-final match held at Rosary College Ground, Don Bosco College, Panjim, also advanced to the finals with a solid 3-0 victory over St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa. The scoring was initiated in the 11th minute by standout player Karen Estrocio, who scored again in the 39th minute, leading to a 2-0 halftime score. Despite St. Xavier’s strong defense in the second half, Sushmita Jadhav found the back of the net in the 79th minute, sealing the match at 3-0.
