Goa Cricket Association (GCA) President Mahesh Dessai and Secretary Tulsidas Shetye attended the prize distribution ceremony of the 21st All Goa Season Ball Cricket Tournament, organised by the Manorva Sports and Cultural Club at Chapora Panchayat Ground.
Addressing the gathering, GCA President and former Ranji player Mahesh Dessai lauded the efforts of the local MLA for taking the initiative to develop a cricket ground in the area, noting that such infrastructure is crucial for the growth of cricket at the grassroots level. He also encouraged young cricketers to maintain discipline and dedication towards the game.
Dessai further spoke about the GCA's ongoing initiatives to establish rural cricket centres aimed at identifying and nurturing talent from villages and providing promising players with opportunities to progress to higher levels.
GCA Secretary Tulsidas Shetye echoed similar views and congratulated the organisers for successfully conducting the tournament, stating that it continues to play a significant role in promoting cricket across Goa.
In the final match, Mauli Sports Club, Nadora defeated Prestige 11 by nine wickets. Prestige, batting first, were bowled out for 136 runs in 19.3 overs. Mauli Sports Club comfortably chased the target, scoring 139 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 14.1 overs.
For Mauli Sports Club, Yogesh Kauthankar starred with the ball, claiming three wickets for 13 runs, while Sankalp Gawas (55 not out) and Sachin Gawas (65 not out) remained unbeaten to steer their team to a convincing victory.
