Sporting Clube de Goa came from behind to hold FC Goa 2-2 in the GFA President’s league at GFA stadium at Duler, Mapusa, on Monday
FC Goa started the game on an aggressive note with their forwards working in tandem to put the rival defence into disarray. Persistent forays paid dividends and in the 24th minute Velroy Fernandes made it 1-0.
Stung by the reversal, Sporting Clube went all out in search of the equalizer and got it through Clive Miranda. The match was tied 1-1 at halftime.
The second half turned interesting with both the teams showing urgency and in the 47th minute Mallikjan Kalegar regained the lead for FC Goa. With the match drifting away from them, Sporting Clube’s attacking midfielder Stendly Fernandes restored parity and avoided the blushes for the team by scoring in the dying minutes of the game.
