Raia Sporting Club fought back from a goal down to defeat SCC Loutolim 4-1 and win the Bro Eulalio Vas Memorial Inter-Village Football Tournament, organised by Don Bosco Oratory at the DBO Ground in Fatorda on Sunday.
The match kicked off with an early shock for Raia SC, as Ignatius D'Silva gave SCC Loutolim the lead in the 3rd minute. However, Raia Sporting quickly recovered and equalised in the 15th minute through Danny Fernandes, making it 1-1. From that point on, Raia took control of the game, dominating possession and play.
In the second half, Raia's Achilles Fernandes netted a brace, and Velroy Borges added another goal to seal a comprehensive 4-1 victory.
The win earned Raia Sporting Club a cash prize of Rs 60,000 along with the tournament trophy, while SCC Loutolim had to settle for a cash prize of Rs 40,000 and a trophy.
Vijai Sardessai, MLA of Fatorda, was the chief guest and presented the prizes, accompanied by several dignitaries, including Savio Medeira (Director of Sporting Club de Goa), Fr Ralin de Souza (Rector, DBO), Fr Kinley de Cruz (Director of DBO College of Engineering), Fr George Quadros (Director of Project Rice), Fr Leo Pereira (Director of DBO Fatorda), Fr Thomas Fernandes (Confessor of Shrine), Andrew Ferrao (GFA), and other club officials.
