Rossman Cruz SC Nagoa entered the semifinals of Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial football tournament by defeating Curtorim Gymkhana 2-1 at Musson ground, Majorda.
Rossman Cruz took the lead in the 4th minute through Imamsab Guledguddo, who scored off a pass by Noel D'Silva from the left flank. Rossman Cruz players did not gave much of a chance to the Curtorim players to settle and pressed again in the 7th minute to increase the lead through Clayton Fernandes, who netted with a header. At the end of the first half, Rossman Cruz led 2-0.
In the second half, Curtorim made a brilliant move from the centre circle as striker Frazier Castanha latched on to the ball and sent a cross to an unmarked Milagres Fernandes, but the latter shot wide. Curtorim were on attack most of the time but Rossman Cruz defender Fulganco Cardozo and the keeper had a good game. Curtorim's striker Milagres Fernandes finally got his name on the scoresheet in the 68th minute off a good assist from Vicky Cardozo, 2-1.
Cuncolim Union blank St Rock 3-0
Cuncolim Union trounced St St Rock YC Calata 3-0 and moved into the quarterfinals of the Rising Cup 2022 football tournament organised by Rising Club of Sanvorcotto, Cuncolim at Cuncolim ground on Sunday.
Trijoy Dias scored all the three goals for Cuncolim. He opened the scoring in the 15th minute and then netted the second goal for Cuncolim in the 55th minute. Trijoy netted his third goal in the 61st minute. Man of the match award was presented to Trijoy at the hands of ex-international footballer Freddy Mascarenhas.
St Anthony SC pip SC Davorlim 1-0
St Anthony SC Assolda pipped SC Davorlim 1-0 and moved into the quarterfinals of the Cana Benaulim Panchayat Cup 2022 at St John Baptist ground, Dando Benaulim on Sunday. Richard Fernandes netted the match winner for Assolda in the 22nd minute. Davorlim's Donald Rocha's powerful shot hit the Assolda post in the 66th minute.
Jose Cookies Loutolim advance in home tourney
Jose Cookies Loutolim defeated Nuvem Veterans 2-0 to move into the next round of the Late Conceicao Memorial veterans football tournament organised by Jose Cookies Veterans Loutolim at Camorlim panchayat ground, on Sunday.
Agnelo Colaco of Jose Cookies took a corner at the Nuvem net and Joe Rose Oliveira tried to clear the ball but he only managed to put it in his own net in the 34th minute. Jose Cookies inflated the lead through Nicholas in the 67th minute. Nuvem tried hard to score but Jose Cookies defenders Agnel Colaco and Mario Pereira were solid at the back.
In another match, Candolim Veterans defeated Bardez Veterans 2-0. Cateano Xavier scored off an assist by Jack Colaco while Shankar Palyenkar netted the second.
