Sao Jose de Areal SC triumphed over Wilred Leisure SC of Curtorim in a dramatic penalty shootout, winning 3-2 to claim the 18th Guirdolim Panchayat Cup Inter-Village Football Tournament. The final, organised by Guirdolim SC, was held at the Chandor Church Ground on Sunday.
The match remained goalless after the normal playing time, with both teams creating several attacking opportunities but failing to find the back of the net. Despite a strong second-half push from both sides, the elusive match-winner continued to evade them, leading to a tense penalty shootout.
In the tiebreaker, Stalen Oliveira, Daryl Costa, and Aryan Carvalho successfully converted their penalties for Areal SC, while Fredy Hilario and Ryan Fernandes were the only ones to score for Wilred Leisure SC.
As champions, Sao Jose de Areal SC took home a cash prize of Rs 60,000 and a trophy, while Wilred Leisure SC received Rs 40,000 and a trophy as runners-up.

The prizes were presented by Chief Guest Shri Yuri Alemao, Leader of Opposition and MLA of Cuncolim Constituency, in the presence of various dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Jean Da Cruz Fernandes, Parish Priest of Chandor Church, Rev. Fr. Eremito Rebello, Chaplain of SFX Chapel Guirdolim, Sonia Fernandes, Sarpanch of VP Guirdolim, Shri Egidio D'Costa (President, Chandor Club), Shri Anthony Pango (Senior Vice President, GFA), and other GFA Executive members and club officials.
