United Club of Ambaulim produced a fine display to crush Benfica 4-1 in the Second Division league play off, at Cansaulim ground, on Tuesday.
The highlight of the day was a hat-trick netted by Alex Fernandes. Alex Fernandes scored in the very first minute. Stung by the reverse, Benfica tormented the rival defense with sharp raids. Astern Fernandes cancelled out the lead in the fifth minute. Alex Fernandes helped Ambaulim regain the lead in the 14th minute. Thereafter, there was a change in fortunes as United Club of Ambaulim attacked from both flanks.
Benfica's intent of getting back into the match was evident, but they failed to construct enough quality attempts to threaten. In the 26th minute, Alex Fernandes put the issue beyond doubt in the 26th minute. Shiva Velip rounded off the tally in the 40th minute.
