Vasantrao Dempo HSS of Arts Science and Commerce, Cujira clinched the DSYA Under-19 State-level football title, defeating Damodar HSS, Gudi Paroda 3-0 in the finals played at SAG Athletic Stadium, Bambolim.
Swavel Furtado put Dempo HSS into the lead in the 17th minute. The scores would have levelled in the 40th minute if not for skipper and defender Shayne Afonso, who came to the rescue of V Dempo HSS clear the ball after a bullet shot from striker Likson of Damodar. Later Aryan Poll increased the margin in the 55th minute while in the 65th minute, Macnelle Dias made it 3-0 to seal the easy win.
Earlier in the inter-zonal finals, Dempo HSS defeated St Thomas HSS, Aldona 2-0. The goal scorers were Swavel Furtado and Macnelle Dias. In the Zonal level finals, V Dempo HSS defeated Fr Agnel HSS Pilar 3-0. Asmon Viegas, Nathan Coutinho and Aryan Poll scored for V Dempo HSS.
V Dempo HSS have now clinched 3 State-level football titles this academic year. They won the Under-17 Subroto Cup, Under-18 Reliance Cup and DSYA Under-19 Cup.
