VM Salgaonkar College of Law, Miramar and Don Bosco College, Panjim emerged as joint winners of the 1st inter-collegiate powerlifting women’s championship, organised by Goa University, at Jubilee Hall, Taleigao Plateau, recently.
The third position was shared between six colleges which include PES’s Ravi S. Naik College of Arts & Science, Farmagudi; Nirmala Institute of Education, Altinho; Goa College of Architecture, Altinho; Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science, Margao; Carmel College for Women, Nuvem; and GVM's Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi.
Aivanna J.A. D'Mello of Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science, Margao won the ‘Strongest Woman of Goa University’ title. Aivanna had a body weight of 59.1 kg and her total performance in squats, bench press and dead lift was 327.5 kg.
Dr Ashok M Chodankar, Controller of Examination, Goa University was the chief guest and gave away the presence of Balachandra B. Jadar, Asst. Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University and other officials.
