DBO Fatorda shoot into quarterfinals

Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda beat Fr Agnel YC Paroda 6-5 via the tiebreaker to enter the quarterfinals of the Areal Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Sao Jose de Areal SC at Padribhat Sao Jose de Areal football ground on Wednesday.

Paroda's Ciril Dias' fierce shot banged the Fatorda post and rebounded back in the 36th minute. Fatorda's Roque Borges' curling freekick dipped into Paroda net in the 48th minute but the joy was short-lived as Paroda's Joel Furtado equalised in the 54th minute, assisted by Ciril Dias.

In the tiebreaker, Don Bosco Oratory netted through Maxwell Furtado, Charles Miranda, Hanslum Furtado, Velton D'Souza and Alfred Noronha. For Fr Agnel YC Paroda, Kanchan Kiro, Joel Furtado, Xylyn Olveira and Doyson D'Costa scored.

Best player of the losing team was awarded to Shelton Fernandes of Fr Agnel YC Paroda at the hands of Seby Faleiro.

Joe Cookies Veterans move into semis
Joe Cookies Veterans, Loutolim defeated Morjim Veterans 5-3 via the tiebreaker to enter the semifinals of the Varca Veterans Cup football tournament organised by Varca Veterans at Varca football ground on Wednesday.

In the tiebreaker, Joe Cookies Veterans netted through Agnelo, Caitani,Wilson James and Agnelo. For Morjim Veterans, Chandreshekar, Niclau and Sunil scored. Beniditi D'Souza of Morjim Veterans was presented with the Man of the match award.

Rosary HS win U-14 boys badminton tourney

Rosary High School, Cujira defeated St Britto's High School 2-0 to emerge champions in the North Goa District Badminton U-14 boys tournament organised by DSYA. 

Regina Mundi face Deepvihar in Slattery Memorial opener
Hosts Regina Mundi School, Chicalim will clash with traditional rivals Deepvihar School, Sada in the inaugural match of the 24th All Goa Bro DO Slattery Memorial inter-school football tournament for U-13 boys and girls organised by Regina Mundi School, Chicalim.

The tournament is recognised by the Goa Football Association and supported by Vasco Sports Club. All the matches will be played at Regina Mundi School ground, Chicalim from September 22-24. In the girls section, St Andrew’s Institute, Vasco will take on St Jude’s High School, Betalbatim.

The tournament is held in the memory of Br Slattery, a much loved former brother, teacher of the school who the legend says used to referee football games at RMS even at the age of seventy.
