Fr Agnel YSC, Paroda prevailed over St Savio SC, Calangute with a lone second half goal to enter the semi finals of the II Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup, organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim, on Monday.
In a fast paced encounter, Calangute had the upper hand in the first half with Saish Palyenkar testing the Paroda keeper Pravesh Borkar who punched the ball out for an abortive corner. In the next moment, Merwin moved from the centre and passed the ball to Namresh Kundikar whose rasping shot was tipped over by the Paroda keeper.
Paroda's midfield maestro Steve Menezes moved solo from his half and unleashed a volley which struck the goal post and went out of play. Later, Steve gave a long pass to Anthony Dias in the penalty area whose first attempt was inches wide off the mark.
After lemon time, Paroda forwards moved up with more cohesion with Regan and Salvito dribbling well and a lobbed ball was headed into the far corner of the goal but the agile Calangute keeper Selwin D'Souza saved the ball.
Paroda scored the all important goal when Steve Menezes took a long range shot which was deflected from Calangute defender Prajyot into the goal to take Fr Agnel YC Paroda into the semis where they will now meet Goa Velha SC.
